The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 9 held its Regional Management Committee (RMC) Meeting for CY 2023 presided by Regional Director Al-Zath K. Kunting, RFP, at BFAR 9 Conference Hall from March 14 to March 16, 2023. The meeting aims to provide communication and updates on the performances and happenings encompassing the bureau, stated by RD Kunting during his welcome remarks.
The major agenda discussed with its presenters during the conduct of RMC meeting were: Status of BFAR 9 Filled and Unfilled Positions, Physical and Financial Performance for CY 2023 and Presentation of List of Not Yet Due and Demandable (NYDD), Financial Performance of Disbursement CY 2023, Updates on the Development of Salt Industry Project/Seaweed Development Project, Updates on BFAR 9 Projects and Activities Procurement, Updates on Travel Order and Purchase Request/Issues and Recommendations, ARTA Related Concerns/Citizen Charter, Presentation of Annual Procurement, among others.
As the committee meeting progressed, updates and clarifications on the bureau’s external activities, issues, and concerns were openly addressed through the input of agreements, suggestions, as well as straight-out deliberations of BFAR 9 staff — to further strengthen and heighten the strategic plans, programs, and projects associated to the bureau.
The conference of BFAR 9 regional personnel ran simultaneously which established a keen observation and alertness of both internal and external affairs of the bureau. Hence, the participation and contribution of the personnel were greatly recognized as a whole. Also, the meeting was graced by BFAR 9 former Regional Director Mr. Isidro M. Velayo, Jr., MDM, now Assistant Director for Technical Services of BFAR Central Office who pointed out some BFAR’s issues and concerns specifically on Abandoned, Underdeveloped, Underutilized (AUU) Fishponds and other matters concerning the fisheries sector.
