𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 || A three-day Fishery Law Enforcement Training (FLET) for Bantay Dagat in Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte, from April 24-26, 2024 was conducted by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) regional office 9. The training aimed to provide local Bantay Dagat with the necessary skills to effectively enforce fishery laws and combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Participants got the chance to acquire skills such as Practical Plotting, Use of Global Positioning System (GPS), Detection of fish Caught by Means of Explosives, and a Simulation activity on Boarding Procedures and Vessel Inspection and recognized that by enforcing regulations, they play a crucial role in preserving marine resources for future generations.

These are believed essential for enforcing laws and local ordinances that safeguard marine resources in the municipality. The training successfully ended as participants realized the importance of strengthening the municipality’s law enforcement in conservation, protection and preservation of marine resources to enhance fish productivity and improve the well-being of fishing communities.
